Our Leadership
President
Alexander Sayler-Tait is a proud member of the Mi'kmaq Nation of Gaspeg. Alex was born and raised in San Jose, California to Canadian parents. Growing up in Silicon Valley has informed his passion for both Technology and Business. He even attempted to found a Software startup when he was 8.
Alex is currently in his fourth year at UBC majoring in Political Science, and he is currently a Consulting Analyst at MNP.
Vice President
Miles, a citizen of the Akisqnuk First Nation, is an incoming 4th year BCom Student at the Sauder School of Business, specializing in accounting. Miles has applied his knowledge with internship experiences at BCI, and Nch’kay Developent corporation. He is also a founding committee member of the Ktunaxa First Nation Legacy Trust, where he focuses on providing long-term investments for his nation.
Outside of academics and professional life, Miles is an avid skier, hiker, and soccer fan.
Treasurer
Lily is a member of the Métis Nation of British Columbia, and grew up in Kelowna, BC, on the traditional territories of the Syilx Okanagan people. She is in her fourth year at UBC Sauder, specializing in Finance and Real Estate. Lily has spent the past few summers working in property appraisal at BC Assessment, where she developed an interest in real estate and valuation.
Outside of school, Lily enjoys hiking, golfing, and wine tasting around the Okanagan.
Aliza Hertzog
marketing Director
Aliza is proud of her roots in the Kwantlen First Nation. She is currently in her fourth-year at the UBC Sauder School of Business specializing in Marketing. Aliza has experience as a marketing intern for a small business in the Fraser Valley and has recently worked for Tourism Harrison River Valley as a Tourism Coordinator working across events, marketing, and digital design.
Outside of academics and her professional career, Aliza is passionate about reading and art of all kinds.
Sydney Chalmers
Marketing Coordinator
Sydney is Denaakk'e Koyukon Athabaskan of the Native Village of Ruby in Alaska, and is an incoming 4th year BCom Student at the Sauder School of Business, specializing in Marketing and Business Technology Management. She did an exchange in 2025 at HEC Paris studying International Marketing and Management.
Sydney is working with the United Nations for International Indigenous Human Rights in Geneva 2026, an UBC 2026 Spitz awardee and fellow, and worked with Elsa to help build the Indigenous programming for Sauder students in 2025. She also has ties back to the USA with United Indians of All Tribes in Seattle Washington.

Caedmon KOvacs
Grants and Sponsorship director
Caedmon, a citizen of Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) with roots in the St. Boniface neighbourhood of Winnipeg, Manitoba, is an incoming 3rd-year BCom student at the Sauder School of Business, specializing in entrepreneurship.
Caedmon has experience through internships at TD's Commercial Banking Team and KPMG's Digital Twin & AI team. He is also the founder of Natoona.ca, a free, AI-assisted scholarship platform built to expand access to funding for Indigenous and underserved students across Canada.
Outside of academics and professional life, Caedmon hosts Leadership Lessons, a podcast featuring founders, executives and leaders across Canada, and is passionate about health, community and faith.
Jack Oliphant
Membership coordinator
Jack is an incoming second-year BCom student at the UBC Sauder School of Business. This summer, he applied his coursework through his recent internship at MNP, gaining practical experience in accounting and client support. Jack is also an entrepreneur, having started his own bookkeeping company in high school, where he worked with small businesses to strengthen their financial organization.
Outside of academics and professional life, Jack enjoys staying active, playing his violin, and spending time with friends and family.
Carter o’neil
technology Coordinator
Carter is an incoming third-year student at the UBC Sauder School of Business pursuing a Combined Major in Business and Computer Science. He has applied his skills by independently building and launching software projects, combining technical development with an entrepreneurial mindset. Beyond personal projects, Carter actively participates in case competitions and hackathons, where he enjoys solving complex problems, collaborating with new teams, and continually refining his business and technical abilities.
Outside of academics and his professional pursuits, Carter is an avid sports enthusiast and is passionate about advancing Indigenous initiatives that foster awareness, community, and meaningful opportunities.
Noah Bird
external Events coordinator
Noah is a third-year student at UBC Sauder School of Business, specializing in Real Estate with a strong interest in Finance. He is Métis with Cree roots, having grown up in Quesnel, BC.
Noah currently works at TD Bank and is a teaching assistant for a Sauder course focused on values, ethics, and community. He is passionate about the intersection of real estate development and Indigenous economic reconciliation, and hopes to build a career centered on sustainable, community-driven projects in partnership with Indigenous communities. He is also working toward his life insurance license and IFC (Investment Funds in Canada) license, with the goal of one day becoming a financial advisor for his community.
As External Events Coordinator for the IBA, he's excited to help create spaces that connect students and foster opportunity within the Indigenous business community. Outside of school, Noah enjoys skiing, working out, traveling and entrepreneurial ventures.
Hunter Ross

Hunter, a member of the Métis Nation of Ontario, is an incoming 2nd-year BCom student at the Sauder School of Business, pursuing a dual specialization in finance and real estate. Hunter has applied his knowledge through internship experiences at TD Bank and First National Financial, where he has developed hands-on expertise in residential real estate and data management.
Outside of academics and professional life, Hunter is an avid hockey player, golfer, and skiing enthusiast.
